APR VC itangiye neza CAVB Men’s Club Championship 2026 Kagame akurikiranye umukino

APR VC makes a strong start to the CAVB Men’s Club Championship 2026 with Kagame following the match
The President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, watched the APR VC match in which they made a good start to the tournament between the top home teams on the African continent in Volleyball “CAVB Men’s Club Championship 2026” being held in Rwanda. APR VC defeated Black Rhinos VC of Zimbabwe 3-0 in the Group A match held at the BK Arena on Wednesday night, April 22, 2026.
APR VC dominated the first set, winning 25-18. They continued to dominate the second set, 25-10, and the third, 25-11, to make a strong start to the African Championship. The match coincided with the official opening ceremony of the 47th edition of the tournament.
The President of the Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB), Ngarambe Raphaël, has urged Rwandans to be close to the teams that will be competing during the 10-day tournament. He said, “This cup is here, it will not leave. We ask for your cooperation. The players are ready and have been assisted by the Ministry of Sports, the Government and you. This cup must stay here.”
The Minister of Sports, Mukazayire Nelly, said that hosting the CAVB Men’s Club Championship 2026 is part of the Rwandan government’s plan to welcome visitors. He said this reflects Rwanda’s vision to become a host country for international sporting events.
The CAVB Men’s Club Championship brings together the top teams from across the African continent, with the aim of selecting a team to represent Africa at the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Club World Championship. It is expected that the top three teams in the tournament will qualify for the World Championship.
APR VC is one of the two teams representing Rwanda in this tournament and is in the running to win the trophy after performing well in the national tournament. The good start demonstrated the willingness and ability of this Army team to strive to elevate Rwanda's reputation in continental volleyball.
