The Iranian government has sentenced prominent singer Parastoo Ahmadi to 74 lashes after she appeared on stage without wearing traditional Iranian clothing. She was wearing a traditional Iranian dress and was wearing women's perfume, which is not acceptable in Iranian culture.

Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi and seven others who performed on YouTube have been sentenced to 74 lashes each after being accused of publishing content that violates the country's culture and morals, the ruling said.

Based on a performance Ahmadi gave in late 2024, which was posted on YouTube, she was seen singing without a hijab, the headscarf worn by women in Iran. The singer was accompanied by a pianist, a guitarist, and others dressed in black.
