In Iran, the death toll has already exceeded 6,000. The Human Rights Watch in the United States announced that 6,126 people have been killed in protests against the regime in Iran, while more than 41,800 have been arrested.

On January 27, the organization announced that the number of deaths could rise because efforts to verify the victims have been hampered by the country's internet shutdown, which is seen as a cover-up and a cover-up of what is happening in the country. 

Human rights activists said they feared the death toll was higher than reported, saying that since the internet was shut down, it was difficult to get information about what was happening in the country.

The protests were fueled by a sharp currency devaluation, with at least 1.5 million Iranian rials now worth one US dollar.

The protests have spread to 180 cities and 31 provinces across the country. Images circulating on social media show protesters carrying signs demanding the removal of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

They carried signs with a picture of Reza Pahlavi, the Iranian Crown Prince who lives in the United States, and residents say he will come and rule the country that was once ruled by his father before the 1979 Islamic revolution that overthrew the monarchy.
