The US President, Donald Trump, announced that the US military has rescued the pilot of the F-15E fighter jet that was recently shot down by Iran. The US jet was shot down by Iran on Friday, April 3, 2026. The pilot was immediately reported missing, and Iran has offered a reward for any citizen who finds him.
Trump said they were able to rescue their pilot, saying, "We found him. My fellow Americans, in the last several hours the United States military has launched one of the largest search and rescue operations in American history for one of our service members, a highly respected Colonel. I am pleased to report that he is doing very well."
The rescued soldier was found with minor injuries. One of the pilots on board the plane was rescued, but the second one was reported missing. He was found several hours after his colleagues launched a search operation.
The US military immediately launched a search operation to rescue their colleague before Iran captured him. This comes at a time when relations between the US and Iran are at a critical juncture, with a possible US attack on Iran looming.
