London police have arrested Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the United States, over his activities in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein case. Mandelson, 72, was stripped of all diplomatic posts in September 2025 after it emerged he had a close relationship with Epstein.
Leaked emails in January 2026 show that Peter Mandelson shared information with Epstein while he was in the government led by Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The leaked messages suggest that Mandelson and Epstein were much closer friends than had been publicly acknowledged.
Mandelson had recently resigned from the ruling Labour Party and resigned from the British Senate. Last week, King Charles III's brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was also arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, where he allegedly passed information to Jeffrey Epstein. He was later released.
London police said they had arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The investigation began in early 2026, and police said they had searched Mandelson's homes in Wiltshire and London.
