A man from Muhanga District has been arrested on suspicion of killing his cousin, Nshimiyimana Gilbert, by stabbing him in the shoulder, accusing him of catching him having sex with his wife.

This happened in Nyarusange Sector in Muhanga District, where the two had gone to work mining precious stones, having come from their home in Kabacuzi Sector.

Residents say the suspect stabbed Nshimiyimana in the shoulder, piercing his chest. They intervened and took the injured man to a health center, where he was pronounced dead.

The killer immediately surrendered to authorities, as one resident recounted: "He sat down and said, 'Lock me up, I killed someone'."

A resident said, "The killer claimed that the reason he killed her was because he was going to marry her."

Rwanda National Police spokesperson in the Southern Province, CIP Hassan Kamanzi, announced that Nshimiyimana's body was taken to Kabgayi Hospital, while the suspect was arrested.

CIP Kamanzi said, “The injured person eventually died and his body was sent to Kabgayi Hospital.”
