The Rwandan government has declared that the sanctions imposed by the United States of America (USA) on the Rwandan Armed Forces (RDF) and some of its senior military officers, based on the ongoing conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), are biased and ignore the facts [1].

The sanctions announced by the USA are based on allegations that the RDF has taken sides in the ongoing war in eastern DRC, but Rwanda has said that the sanctions are biased towards only one side of the peace talks.

Rwanda recalled that the coalition supporting the DRC government in the war continues to launch attacks in various parts of eastern DRC, emphasizing its refusal to allow a ceasefire to end the war.

Drone attacks are carried out continuously and indiscriminately, along with ground attacks, aimed at undermining the peace agreement on the DRC side, and continue to claim many lives.

The Rwandan government recalled that "protecting our country is a great pride for the Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF)".

The DRC's coalition includes foreign mercenaries, state-backed ethnic armed groups (Wazalendo), and the FDLR, a group made up of some of the perpetrators of the Genocide against the Tutsi, fighting on the side of the government.

Rwanda recalled that in the Washington Agreement, the DRC committed to significantly halting its support for the FDLR and other groups affiliated with it, but so far no concrete steps have been taken in this process.

Rwanda reiterated its support for the resumption of the implementation of the agreement, including the establishment of a Joint Committee of various institutions responsible for monitoring its implementation.
