Perezida Kagame yavuze ko ingamba z’ubwirinzi zashyizweho n’u Rwanda kubera ibibazo by’umutekano muke mu Burasirazuba bwa RDC, ari ukurinda ubutaka bwacu hamwe n’imbibi zacu ku buryo nta watugirira nabi. Yagize ati “Ibyo birumvikana. Ingamba z’ubwirinzi zishatse gusobanura iki? Zisobanuye ko ari ukurinda ubutaka bwacu hamwe n’imbibi zacu ku buryo nta watugirira nabi, bisobanuye ko hari uburyo bwinshi burimo gukoresha ibikoresho byacu bya gisirikare, kohereza ingabo zacu n’ibindi”.

Tibor Nagy yavuze ko yuzuzanya na Perezida Kagame ku ngingo y’ingamba z’ubwirinzi zashyizweho n’u Rwanda. Yagize ati “Ndabizi ko Perezida w’u Rwanda Kagame atavugwaho rumwe cyane, ariko mu kiganiro yagiranye na Jeune Afrique yagaragaje ingingo ifite ishingiro; Niba amahanga amusaba gusenya imitwe irinda u Rwanda [M23], [amahanga] akwiye no gusaba RDC gusenya imitwe igaba ibitero ku Rwanda [FDLR]. Iyi ni yo nzira yonyine!”

Perezida Kagame yavuze ko kubahiriza ibisabwa ari wo mutima w’amasezerano ya Washington hamwe n’andi yayabanjirije, nubwo RDC yanze kuyubahiriza. Yavuze ko kuva abarwanyi ba AFC/M23 batangira kugenzura ibice bihana imbibi n’u Rwanda mu Burasirazuba bwa Repubulika Iharanira Demokarasi ya Congo, rwizeye umutekano warwo ugereranyije n’uko ibintu byari bimeze mbere.

Tibor Nagy, former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, said that the Democratic Republic of Congo's destruction of the FDLR terrorist group is the only way to end the years-long conflict in the east of the country. He made the remarks after an interview with Jeune Afrique by President Paul Kagame.

President Kagame said that the security measures put in place by Rwanda due to the insecurity in the eastern part of the DRC are to protect our territory and our borders so that no one can harm us. He said, “That is understandable. What do security measures mean? They mean to protect our territory and our borders so that no one can harm us, which means there are many ways including using our military equipment, sending our troops and so on.”

Tibor Nagy said he agrees with President Kagame on Rwanda’s security measures. He said, “I know that Rwandan President Kagame is controversial, but in his interview with Jeune Afrique he made a valid point; If the international community asks him to destroy the groups that protect Rwanda [M23], [the international community] should also ask the DRC to destroy the groups that attack Rwanda [FDLR]. This is the only way!”

President Kagame said that compliance with the terms of the Washington agreement and its predecessors, despite the DRC's refusal to comply, is at the heart of the agreement. He said that since AFC/M23 fighters began controlling parts of the border with Rwanda in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it has become more secure than before.

The sanctions imposed by the United States on the Rwandan Armed Forces are biased but do not prevent it from taking measures to protect its security. Tibor Nagy said that the conflict in eastern DRC requires sustained and permanent action.
