The Director General of the Rwanda Social Security Administration, Regis Rugemasnuro, announced that it has invested about 53 billion Rwf in building the capacity of the Ruliba factory that produces bricks and other construction materials.
He told the Deputies that RSSB has invested money to build a strong and advanced factory, capable of helping Rwanda obtain basic construction materials by January 20, 2026.
Through this investment, Ruliba built a new factory with a capacity to process 420 tons of bricks per day, up from 170 tons.
He said, "We built a new factory in collaboration with other investors, which has doubled the previous capacity. From 170 tons per day to 420 tons per day of burnt bricks. At an investment of about 53 billion RWF."
He pointed out that Rwanda has a problem with access to affordable housing and that RSSB has also decided to participate in this investment.
He said, "You know that the issue of modest housing is an issue that we have been trying to solve with various other stakeholders for some time now. The good news is that Rwanda has enough bricks, which are cheap and will help it meet its needs to build modest houses."
He continued, "If you look at the Ruliba factory, it solves the problem of bricks that people had, those who wanted to build modest houses but the materials were expensive...if we were only concerned about profits, we would have taken that money to the bank and made a profit of about 12% or 13%, but it would not have solved the problem of the citizen not receiving bricks on time."
He indicated that the country's vision is to become self-sufficient in construction materials, especially bricks used in construction, which are produced domestically.

Ruriba Clay Ltd., Rugabwe, manufactures construction materials including modern fired bricks. It is said that these bricks do not need to be sanded because they have the unique property of being perfectly smooth without requiring any other materials.
Some of those who have used these bricks in construction spoke to Tugerezi News and reported that if you build your house with these bricks made by Ruriba Clay Ltd, your house will cost twice as much as it did before, due to the quality and durability of these bricks.
They say they make all kinds of bricks, small and large, used to build a regular house or tiles that you can attach to your bed, or to a house if you have built it with regular bricks so that light can enter your home.
