Iranian assets seized by the US to be released, UAE leader says

The United Arab Emirates has secretly agreed to release billions of dollars in Iranian assets, four officials familiar with the decision told Reuters.

The decision coincides with the conclusion of talks between the United States and Iran aimed at ending a three-month-long war between the two sides.

Officials said this is part of a plan to free up Iranian oil assets that were frozen by foreign banks after US sanctions were imposed on Iran.

Two officials said the UAE had agreed to release $10 billion, and $3 billion had already been sent. Two others said the total was $20 billion. They said the decision was reached after Iran stopped attacking the UAE.

However, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately issued a statement denying the reports. The statement said: “The United Arab Emirates rejects the reports being circulated by international media outlets regarding the transfer of any funds from the UAE to Iran, including $3 billion.”

The UAE leader said that this decision is in line with the goal of reducing tensions and promoting peace between the two sides. He said that the UAE's foreign policy is responsible for reducing tensions in the region and supporting the efforts made by the United States to protect the people of the region.

The sources say that after receiving this money, Iran will stop firing at the UAE. The two countries have agreed to rebuild their relations and share intelligence. The talks are said to have begun in recent weeks and were accelerated by a visit by Iranian military leaders to Abu Dhabi.
