Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe, revealed that before signing the peace agreements between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), they first sought divine guidance to ensure that the agreements would be implemented.
He continued, "He told us to raise our hands and he prayed for us first."
Ambassador Nduhungirehe addressed the security issues in the Great Lakes region of Africa, where he stated that the challenges between the DRC and Rwanda are filled with many lies, and foreign countries are intentionally distorting the facts.
He said, "As President Kagame mentioned yesterday, the root cause of the problem in Congo is well known, but foreign nations, including our partners, choose to avoid speaking the truth."
I would like to remind you of how President Kisekedi halted peace talks, starting with the negotiations intended to bring together M23 and DRC in Nairobi, yet he did so without informing the heads of state from the East African Community (EAC) who had requested those talks.
He began by recalling how the EAC had deployed troops to Goma to maintain security, but Kisekedi chose to remove them and instead brought in mercenaries. This caused the issues in DRC to continue to escalate until they eventually caught the attention of President Trump.
In Trump's mediation, it reached a point where appeals for help were made, and there was also a reliance on prayer in hopes that it would yield results, but even that proved to be in vain."
"Pastor Paula White-Cain, commonly referred to as Pastor Polar White, prayed for them before they signed the agreements. She is a well-known pastor known for her preaching on television in the United States, and she also serves as an advisor to President Trump on religious matters.
After Rwanda and the DRC signed the peace agreements, President Kagame thanked his counterpart Trump, stating that he did what he was supposed to do, especially since it had been challenging to resolve these issues in the region.
He said, 'If these agreements are not implemented, it will not be President Trump’s problem; it will be our problem.' He went on to express that Rwanda is ready to do what it needs to ensure the agreements are put into action, but he is uncertain about what the DRC is prepared to do on their end."
