US Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, stated that the US doesn't want Iran to collapse like Libya did under Barack Obama's administration. Ambassador Whitaker  emphasized that President Donald Trump doesn't want Iran to become like Libya, a country that's been unstable for over a decade since NATO-backed rebels toppled Muammar Gaddafi in 2011 ¹.

The US recently sent warships to the Middle East to pressure Iran into agreeing to new nuclear deal negotiations. Whitaker told Fox News that Trump has made it clear Iran can't have nuclear weapons and should stop killing protesters.

The warships are meant to show strength and warn Iran, potentially reducing tensions if they comply with Washington's demands. Whitaker said Trump has given Iran an ultimatum and doesn't want things to escalate. The US is cautious about using force, unlike the situation in Libya under Obama.

Iran claims its nuclear program is peaceful and has no plans to build nuclear weapons. Tehran is open to international negotiations but is wary of US intentions, especially after Trump withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal ² ³.

The situation is tense, with both sides engaging in verbal sparring. Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian accused the US and Israel of backing protests in Iran, while the US sees Iran's nuclear ambitions as a threat.
