In Kenya, an EBB Air plane skidded and crashed in the Mandera bush – no one was killed.
The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KAA) said that an EBB Air passenger plane skidded while preparing to land at Mandera Airport in Northwestern Kenya, ending up in bushes near the airport. This happened on April 24, 2026.
The plane took off from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi at 6:00 am with 32 passengers and four crew members on board. As it prepared to land in Mandera at 8:00 am, it overshot the runway and ended up in bushes. Footage shared on social media showed the rear of the plane, with the other half still in the bushes.
KAA confirmed that no one was killed or injured in the accident. All passengers and crew members survived safely, and no serious injuries were reported.
Mandera Airport, located near the Somali-Ethiopian border, is often used by aid flights to refugee camps, which are home to Somalis. It is located far from the capital Nairobi and is often subject to difficult weather conditions during flights.
KAA announced that it is investigating the cause of the plane's overrun, to determine whether it was caused by pilot error or factors related to weather and the airport's construction.
