President Paul Kagame received a group of members of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO). The discussions took place at his office in Village Urugwiro, and focused on Rwanda’s development and opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between Rwanda and Panama.
The group was led by Rogelio Romero, YPO Gold Panama representative and CEO of Concretex Panama. He was accompanied by a group of 19 YPO members and their spouses. YPO is an international organization that brings together business leaders.
YPO brings together more than 38,000 business leaders from 130 countries. The Panama chapter brings together the top executives of the country's largest business and investment firms. This reflects the strength of the group Kagame spoke to.
During the talks, both sides reviewed the changes Rwanda has made in promoting employment programs. They also discussed opportunities for trade and economic cooperation between Rwanda and Panama. The aim was to strengthen cooperation in the economic sector.
Rwanda and Panama have already signed a cooperation agreement. In November last year, the Government of Rwanda signed an agreement with Panama to develop air transport services. This opens up avenues for trade and investment.
President Kagame received the Global Leadership Award from YPO in 2003. He was honored for his leadership that has transformed the lives of Rwandans, as demonstrated by the promotion of peace and the level of economic and social development he has brought to them.
Today's discussions demonstrate that Rwanda continues to be a leader in opening its doors to international investors. Trade and cooperation can boost investment in industry, technology, and tourism.
The partnership between Rwanda and Panama through YPO could open up new opportunities. Leaders from both institutions met to explore how they can work together on development projects, thereby helping the economies of both countries grow.
