US President Donald Trump said Iran should not play with a deal aimed at ending a month-long war in the Middle East. He made the remarks after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said they would consider a US request for a ceasefire, but would not hold talks with each other.

Trump has repeatedly stressed the need for peace talks as countries in the region grapple with the economic fallout and rising prices from the war. Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said direct talks between the United States and Iran were underway through a delegation led by Pakistan and other countries including Turkey and Egypt, who are in the process of coordinating.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that what they are doing is not real talks because they are sending messages to each other expressing their desires but it cannot be called talks or negotiations. He stressed that their policy is to continue to defend themselves, to protect the country and they have no intention of negotiating. 

In a message posted on Truth Social, Trump reiterated that Iran's military has been completely destroyed and has no chance of rebuilding itself and is demanding talks. He added that those negotiating on the Iranian side are unknown and politically unpopular people, so they need to take matters seriously before it's too late, because it could get to the point where it's impossible and there's no going back, it's going to continue to be difficult.

Although Araqchi's statements indicate that Tehran is open to peaceful talks if its demands are met, it is expected that a deal will be difficult due to the specifics of each side. Among the 15 points the US has made clear is that it wants Iran to completely dismantle its nuclear program, abandon its missile program, and give up control of the Strait of Hormuz, among others.

On the other hand, Iran is demanding that the United States withdraw all its military activities from the Middle East, refrain from interfering in the management of the Strait of Hormuz, pay compensation for the damage caused by the war that the United States has waged against it, and more.

Israeli strikes targeted the Islamic Republic's military and nuclear infrastructure, prompting Iran to vow to retaliate. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said there was no need for talks between Iran and Israel as long as Israel continued its attacks.

US President Donald Trump said the US will make a decision on whether to go to war with Iran in the next two weeks, but first there will be diplomatic talks.

Talks between the United States and Iran are taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, in the third round of direct talks, considered crucial to preventing a potential war if they fail to reach an agreement.
