After Shaddy Boo appealed to the Rwanda National Investigation Agency (RIB) to investigate a young man named Iradukunda Aimable, known to many as Yugi Umukaraza, accusing him of raping her, the agency confirmed that it had received the complaint.
On June 22, 2026, Shaddy Boo posted a message on social media calling for RIB. He later confirmed that he was asked to go to the doctor for a test. The news that Shaddy Boo has already filed a complaint and has gone for a test was confirmed by RIB Spokesperson, Dr. Murangira B. Thierry.
Dr. Murangira said: βWe have received Shaddy Boo's complaint, yes. We have started investigating it, and he has also come to take tests at the Isange One Stop Center.β The Isange One Stop Center is a center that provides immediate assistance to those who have been caught in crimes of gender-based violence.
Shaddy Boo explained to IGIHE that Yugi Umukaraza raped her at her home on the night of June 21, 2026. She said that the young man was a former friend, and that on the evening of June 21, 2026, he went to visit her home with two bottles of alcohol, which they shared.
After socializing and drinking, Shaddy Boo said that the young man took advantage of her while she was drunk, and she woke up to find that they had sex and she was naked. She said: βYugi came to my house and we had dinner, but I don't know what he gave me because I woke up naked, lying next to me. I think he raped me.β
Shaddy Boo said she was in her period, which made her very upset, and she told Yugi about it. She said: βHe got scared and immediately left my house, but I told him that he has nowhere to run because we are in Rwanda, which has justice.β She said she was saddened to find herself sleeping with this young man, because it was not something they had agreed to.
RIB said an investigation is ongoing to determine the truth behind all allegations related to the case. Rwandan law punishes rape with a minimum of 20 years in prison, and crimes of sexual violence are prosecuted based on the victim's testimony and medical examinations.
